After prevailing in their landmark case against the State of Utah (Kitchen v Herbert, 2013) which brought marriage equality to the 10th circuit and created the critical case law for the freedom to marry nationwide. Derek Kitchen and Moudi Sbeity began selling homemade hummus to their colleagues and friends, and then at the farmer’s market. This opened up the opportunity for catering, cooking classes, and an expanded product line in stores. Laziz opened their Sugar House Station location on July 1st 2026.
